Ammerdown Tower, Somerset

Park up at the entrance to Ammerdown Woods (BA3 5UG) and get ready to explore the woods, run through the fields and awe at the historical Ammerdown Tower - the tower is steeped in local history, built as a near replica of Eddystone Lighthouse with a glass dome at the top. It is a Grade II listed building.

The walk can take you on many paths. My favourite is through the car park along the top of the woods (left side), spotting the hideouts along the way and forest school area. The woods clear out into fields, perfect for playing hide and seek in the crop. At the end of the fields, Ammerdown Tower will come into view, and you'll finally see the beautiful valleys. Walking past the tower, you can enter the woods again to finish the round route to the car park.

Park Manager Feedback

Thank you for your lovely review. We agree that it's a lovely place to walk and we welcome respectful people on site. But we must stress we have noticed a lot of dog poo bags left on site e.g thrown into hedges and left it bottom of trees ect... The owners of Ammerdown Park have flagged this matter up with me, please help us with this problem. Also we must stress, please keep to footpaths and not play in the crops, as this is the farmers livelihood and bad countryside manners.
Thank you again for your review, hope you continue to enjoy Ammerdown Park.
