Nidd Gorge & Nidderdale Greenway, North Yorkshire

This beautiful spot is a hidden gem in the middle of the Harrogate district. A track goes all the way from Starbeck (via The Avenue off Starbeck High Street) to Bilton. Then once you arrive at Bilton Lane, cross the road and another track will take you over a lovely viaduct (which has been recently used in scenes from the film 'Paddington 2') towards the village of Ripley near Ripon. The track is a former disused railway line but was made accessible to cyclists and pedestrians a few years ago. The track itself is also wheelchair accessible, which is great as I can take my Canine Partner assistance dog Lexi for walks here in my powered wheelchair. There are also many fields where you can let your dog off lead and play. Many other local dog owners come to walk their dogs in this area. There are also a number of cyclists who use this route. It is best to keep your dog on a lead, particularly at busy times such as weekends and bank holidays, but most cyclists warn you if they are coming past.
