Wirral Way, Merseyside, CH61 0HN

Wirral Way is an old railway line from West Kirby to Hooton along the River Dee with great views of the Welsh coastline. It is popular with cyclists (being on National Cycle Route 56) and ramblers. Towns along the way have plenty of cafes and pubs. Take the promenade along the former coastal village of Parkgate and enjoy famous award-winning ice cream shops. Wirral Country Park offers refreshments for dog walkers and provides access to Thurstaston common and beach. Hadlow Road Station is preserved former railway station. Starting from Ashton Park in West Kirby, to Hooton is over 13 miles but walking shorter routes on part of the trail will not disappoint.
