Devil's Dyke, West Sussex

Park at the Royal Oak pub and turn left down the road. Turn right onto the public footpath by the garage and head towards the hills across the fields (livestock are here).

Follow the footpath up the hill through a wooded area where you will find open water. As you exit the wooded area you arrive at the start of the Dyke Valley which is a long but slow climb up.

The last hundred metres is quite steep for very old or young; I had to carry my 3-year-old. At the top of the valley, turn left and follow the path along the left hand ridge (if looking North).

Follow the footpath down taking in beautiful views and then enter the bluebell wooded area. When you reach the road in Poynings turn right and the pub is 100 metres away.
